Quinet M. et al. (2019) Tomato Fruit Development and MetabolismFrontiers in Plant Science 10:1554, doi: 10.3389/fpls.2019.01554.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) belongs to the Solanaceae family and is the second most important fruit or vegetable crop next to potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). It is cultivated for fresh fruit and processed products. Tomatoes contain many healthpromoting compounds including vitamins, carotenoids, and phenolic compounds. In addition to its economic and nutritional importance, tomatoes have become the model for the study of fleshy fruit development. Tomato is a climacteric fruit and dramatic metabolic changes occur during its fruit development.

Abstract
Background: Despite decades of research on the optimization of the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), its biomarkerbased diagnosis is being hampered by the lack of comparability of raw biomarker data. In order to overcome this limitation, the Erlangen Score (ES), among other approaches, was set up as a diagnostic-relevant interpretation algorithm.
Objective: To validate the ES algorithm in a cohort of neuropathologically confirmed cases with AD (n = 106) and non-AD dementia (n = 57).

Introduction: Poor treatment adherence among asthmatic patients currently remains a public health challenge. One of the most quoted determinants is the quality of the professional–patient relationship although it has clearly not been fully described.
Purpose: This study aims at deeply exploring asthmatic patients’ needs and expectations about the accompaniment proposed by their healthcare professionals.
Methods: A rigorous narrative review was performed.

Dierickx, S. et al.(2019) Women with infertility complying with and resisting polygyny: an explorative qualitative study in urban GambiaReproductive Health vol .16, art. 103.

In many low-and middle-income countries women with infertility are often in polygynous marriages (i.e. marriages wherein men have multiple wives). In general, the practice of polygyny is understood to be harmful for women as it would have a negative impact on their health and general well-being. The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore how women with infertility experience polygyny and to understand their decision-making regarding these marriages. In-depth interviews were conducted between October 2017 and May 2018 in urban Gambia.

Philippaert, K. et al. (2018)  A Thallium-Based Screening Procedure to Identify Molecules That Modulate the Activity of Ca2+-Activated Monovalent Cation-Selective Channels. SLAS Discovery.

TRPM5 functions as a calcium-activated monovalent cation-selective ion channel and is expressed in a variety of cell types. Dysfunction of this type of channel has been recently implied in cardiac arrhythmias, diabetes, and other pathologies. Therefore, a growing interest has emerged to develop the pharmacology of these ion channels. We optimized a screening assay based on the thallium flux through the TRPM5 channel and a fluorescent thallium dye as a probe for channel activity.

Background: Advance care planning (ACP) is a continuous, dynamic process of reflection and dialogue between an individual, those close to them and their healthcare professionals, concerning the individual’s preferences and values concerning future treatment and care, including end-of-life care.

Samia LAOKRI et al.

Laokri, S. et al (2018) Assessing out-of-pocket expenditures for primary health care: how responsive is the Democratic Republic of Congo health system to providing financial risk protection? BMC Health Services Research.

Background: The goal of universal health coverage is challenging for chronically under-resourced health systems. Although household out-of-pocket payments are the most important source of health financing in low-income countries, relatively little is known about the drivers of primary health care expenditure and the predictability of the burden associated with high fee-for-service payments.

Faict, S. et al. (2018) Exosomes play a role in multiple myeloma bone disease and tumor development by targeting osteoclasts and osteoblasts. Blood Cancer Journal 8:105

Progression of multiple myeloma (MM) is largely dependent on the bone marrow (BM) microenvironment wherein communication through different factors including extracellular vesicles takes place. This cross-talk not only leads to drug resistance but also to the development of osteolysis. Targeting vesicle secretion could therefore simultaneously ameliorate drug response and bone disease. In this paper, we examined the effects of MM exosomes on different aspects of osteolysis using the 5TGM1 murine model.

Dysregulated expression of S100 protein family members is associated with cancer proliferation, invasion, angiogenesis, and inflammation. S100A9 induces myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) accumulation and activity. MDSCs, immunosuppressive cells that contribute to tumor immune escape, are the main producers of S100A9.

Abstract
Background: Advance care planning (ACP) has been identified as particularly relevant for nursing home residents, but it remains unclear how or under what circumstances ACP works and can best be implemented in such settings. We aimed to develop a theory that outlines the hypothetical causal pathway of ACP in nursing homes, i.e. what changes are expected, by means of which processes and under what circumstances.

Sow, M. et al. (2018) Is the socioeconomic status of immigrant mothers in Brussels relevant to predict their risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes? BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth. 2018, 118:422.

Background: Understanding and tackling perinatal health inequities in industrialized countries requires analysing the socioeconomic determinants of adverse pregnancy outcomes among immigrant populations. Studies show that among certain migrant groups, education is not associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. We aim to extend this analysis to further dimensions of socioeconomic status (SES) and to other settings.
